Dr. Richard Heggeland

Dr. Heggeland attended University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and received his Doctor of Optometry at Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago Illinois. He also earned a Masters Degree in Education (Learning Disabilities) from Barry College in Miami, Florida.
He moved to Atlanta in 1974 and gained valuable experience working in several offices. He founded Optical Insights in Lilburn in 1990, and opened a second office in Suwanee in 2005. He sold the Lilburn office to Dr. Boski Amin in 2012, and now he only practices in the Suwanee office. He is among the first to offer Ocular Digital Photography in routine eye examinations. Dr. Heggeland resides in Cumming with his wife Sandy. |

Dr. Richard Heggeland Henry Hobbie is our optician and has been in the optical business for over 30 years. He earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Opticianry from Durham Technical Institute in Durham, NC and is a Licensed Dispensing Optician. He has been at Optical Insights since 2007, previously working at Digby Opticians, OptiWorld and Pearle Vision. Henry loves to travel - ask him about some of his favorite cruises. Sandy Heggeland is a "jack-of-all-trades" in the office. As Office Manager Sandy is usually at the front desk or helping patients select eye wear in our Frame Gallery. She also assists the Doctor, helps patients with contact lenses, and deals with insurance issues. Sandy always "goes the extra mile" for our patients and her warm, friendly personality turns our patients into our friends. Mary Beth Cronin is our optometric technician and office assistant. She has been with us for 3 years. |

Our Suwanee office features some of the latest technology in eye care including digital imaging and photography of the retina and automated visual field testing for glaucoma.
These systems are extremely valuable tools in the diagnosis and management of certain eye conditions and can be used for baseline references. Patients will gain a higher level of understanding of their eye health after visiting our office. All gathered information can be mailed to other doctors for their records or for further consultation. |

We also carry industrial safety goggles and recreational sports frames. Contact Lenses New lenses are now available for patients with dry eyes, astigmatism, and bifocals. Trial lenses help determine the most appropriate fit for each person. We have a complete inventory of the most frequently used contacts. |
